Wesley is an ardent wildlife enthusiast and seasoned private guide dedicated to unveiling the mysteries of Southern Africas natural world. Wesley has spent his entire life living in wilderness regions and working to conserve the natural balance of the ecosystem.
Wesley has always had an unwavering commitment to conservation. Attending school in the wildlife town of Hoedspruit on the fringes of the Kruger National Park, it was a natural transition for Wesley to move into Anti-Poaching efforts in Northern Mozambique.
Here he worked alongside fellow APU members to tirelessly safeguard the precious wildlife that call this piece of paradise home. Extending their reach into the the Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area which encompasses the all important Kruger National Park..
Wesleys drive and passion for the natural world led him to transition from Anti-Poaching into field guiding. Having completed his FGASA (Field Guide Association of South Africa) qualifications Wesley started working at Lodges in Hoedspruit and Northern Zululand. It was here that his passion for photography and birding took flight.
It is not unheard of for Wesley to get up in the middle of the night and drive hours to some obscure location to find a rare bird to add to his lifer list.
For the last 5 years Wesley has worked at some of the most luxurious lodges in the Greater Kruger National Park, where he shares his knowledge and passion for the natural world with his guests.
Wesley embodies a sense of calm in nature, and delights in showcasing nature and its inhabitants with his guests.
Each private expedition that Wesley guides, transcends the expectations of his clients. He strives to educate and inspire others to join the noble cause of conservation while forging a deeper connection with our planet all while contributing to the preservation of its extraordinary biodiversity. His time in Anti-Poaching and now as a private guide makes him uniquely placed to debate both sides of the conservation conversation, with deep compassion and insight.
Through the lens of his camera he aims to capture inspiring moments in time that showcases the wildlife he loves so much, ensuring that each special moment in time is preserved for generations to come.
Wesley is a well loved individual, with his clients often returning time and time again to explore more of Southern Africa, often arriving as guests and leaving as great friends.
I would Choose a leopard as a sidekick for safaris! They are agile, stealthy, and powerful predators, making them excellent companions for navigating the wild. Their ability to climb trees and blend into their surroundings would also be beneficial for spotting wildlife.
The Lowveld area and Northern Zululand in South Africa are some of my favorite destinations in South Africa Renowned for their incredible birdlife and wildlife diversity and many changing eco systems.
Witnessing 2 lionesses successfully dig out two warthogs from their burrow. Seeing the incredible teamwork and determination of the lionesses as they worked together to gain valuable energy they showed the raw power and intelligence of these predators. It was a reminder of the circle of life and the balance of nature in the wild.
Birdwatching and big cat tracking are both fantastic ways to connect with nature and observe some of the most fascinating creatures on the planet. Whether you're searching for a rare bird in a remote location or following the tracks of a majestic big cat, Keep exploring and enjoying the thrill of the wild!
My passion lies in sharing knowledge and fostering a deep appreciation for the wonders of Africa.
The Ability to Fly - flight on safari... It would provide a unique perspective, allowing you to move above the landscapes, track wildlife from the air, and explore remote areas with ease.
When guiding in Northern Zululand I watched a black rhino galloping up towards a group of 3 White rhinos get about 10m away from them, turn around and gallop away from them and then turn around and gallop back towards the white rhino. He did this for a good 15 minutes.
If I could I would have loved to have led a safari for Steve Irwin. It would have been an extraordinary experience, as he was a renowned wildlife enthusiast and conservationist. To plan an unforgettable safari for him, I would focus on a well-rounded adventure that aligns with his passion for wildlife and conservation. Such a safari would not only be unforgettable but also a meaningful contribution to wildlife conservation efforts in Africa. It’s a beautiful tribute to his legacy as a wildlife advocate and educator
Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda are places I want to travel too they offer incredible wildlife experiences with gorillas, and Tanzania is known for its chimpanzee trekking opportunities in places like Gombe Stream and Mahale Mountains National Parks.
I want to leave a legacy that is dedicated to the safeguarding of Africa’s natural landscapes and its rich wildlife heritage. I hope to inspire generations to come in their efforts to preserve the continent’s unique biodiversity and to ensure that Africa’s beauty remains a source of wonder and inspiration for all.
