Privately Guided Tanzania Safari
Experience Tanzania Through the Eyes of Martin and Antje Meyer on a Founder-Led Safari

There are certain places in the world that leave a permanent imprint on your soul, places that linger quietly in your memory long after you have returned home, and for us, Tanzania has always been one of those places. It is a country that stirs something deeply emotional within you; perhaps it is the endless Serengeti horizons glowing gold beneath the rising sun, the distant sound of lions calling through the darkness at night, or the feeling of complete insignificance when standing on the rim of the ancient Ngorongoro Crater looking down into one of Africa’s greatest natural wonders. Tanzania is not simply somewhere you visit. It is somewhere you feel.
After decades spent guiding across Africa, exploring remote wilderness areas, working alongside conservationists, and sharing the magic of safari with travellers from around the world, we created our Founder-Led Tanzania Safari as a deeply personal invitation to experience East Africa alongside us in a way that feels immersive, authentic and profoundly connected to the landscapes we love most. This is not a standard group departure designed around rushing between destinations or ticking wildlife sightings off a checklist. Instead, it is an intimate and carefully curated safari experience shaped by years of personal experience, meaningful relationships throughout Tanzania, and a genuine desire to share the Africa that has shaped our own lives.

From the moment guests arrive in Tanzania, the journey begins to unfold slowly and intentionally, allowing time to settle into the rhythm of safari life. Early mornings start with steaming coffee and the soft glow of dawn stretching across the plains while the bush begins to awaken around us. There is a particular stillness to Africa at first light, a sense that the wilderness is holding its breath before the day fully begins, and these are often the moments that stay with travellers forever. Heading out on game drive together, there is anticipation in every corner turned and every distant movement spotted across the landscape, because in Tanzania, every day feels unpredictable in the most beautiful possible way.
The Serengeti remains one of the most extraordinary wildlife destinations on Earth, not only because of the abundance of animals that call it home, but because of the sheer scale and wildness of the ecosystem itself. The plains seem endless, rolling outward toward distant kopjes and scattered acacia trees while vast herds of wildebeest and zebra move through the grasslands as they have for thousands of years. Predators follow closely behind, and there is always the possibility that something remarkable may unfold before your eyes, a coalition of cheetahs scanning the horizon at sunrise, a leopard draped across the branch of a sausage tree, or elephants moving silently through golden dust in the late afternoon light.

Yet what makes safari truly meaningful is not simply what you see, but how you experience it. Travelling through Tanzania alongside experienced safari hosts creates a far deeper level of understanding and connection to the wilderness around you. Over the years, Martin has spent countless hours interpreting animal behaviour, tracking wildlife movements and guiding travellers through some of Africa’s most iconic landscapes, while Antje brings her own perspective through storytelling, conservation awareness and photography. Together, we believe safari should feel personal, thoughtful and emotionally engaging rather than transactional or rushed. We want guests to pause longer at sightings, to notice the smaller details, to ask questions, to absorb the atmosphere around them and to experience the bush not only visually, but emotionally as well.
One of the most powerful moments of the journey is descending into the Ngorongoro Crater, a place that feels almost mythical in its beauty and ecological richness. Formed millions of years ago when a giant volcano collapsed inward, the crater now shelters an incredible concentration of wildlife within its towering walls. As the morning mist begins to lift and sunlight spills slowly across the crater floor, guests often find themselves completely overwhelmed by the scale and beauty of the landscape before them. Lions move through the grasslands, hippos wallow in freshwater pools, flamingos gather along soda lakes, and endangered black rhino occasionally emerge in the distance, all against a backdrop that feels ancient and untouched by time.

Beyond the wildlife itself, Tanzania also offers extraordinary cultural richness, and throughout the journey we aim to create opportunities for respectful and meaningful cultural interactions that deepen guests’ understanding of the people who call these landscapes home. For us, cultural experiences should never feel staged or exploitative, but rather grounded in genuine human connection and mutual respect. Encounters with Maasai communities provide insight into traditions, ways of life and perspectives that have remained deeply connected to the land for generations, adding another important layer to the safari experience.
One of the defining features of this Founder-Led Tanzania Safari is its intentionally small group size, something we believe fundamentally changes the atmosphere of the journey. Smaller groups allow for greater flexibility, quieter game drives, more meaningful conversation and a far more relaxed pace throughout the safari. Some of the most memorable moments happen not during dramatic wildlife sightings, but during the quieter spaces in between, sharing stories over dinner beneath African stars, laughing together around a campfire after dark, or sitting silently at a scenic viewpoint while elephants move across the horizon below. These moments create a sense of connection not only to Africa itself, but also to the people sharing the experience alongside you.

The camps and lodges selected throughout the itinerary reflect our philosophy of safari as well. For us, luxury is not about excess or over-the-top opulence, but rather about atmosphere, authenticity, comfort and thoughtful hospitality. The properties chosen for this journey are places that feel connected to their surroundings, where wildlife still moves naturally through camp and where guests can truly feel immersed in the wilderness rather than separated from it. There is something incredibly special about returning to camp after a long day exploring the bush, gathering around the fire with a drink in hand while listening to the sounds of the African night slowly come alive around you.
September is one of our favourite times of year to experience Tanzania, particularly for travellers seeking exceptional wildlife viewing and beautiful photographic conditions. The dry season creates ideal safari conditions as animals gather around remaining water sources and vegetation becomes less dense, making sightings more frequent and rewarding. The light during this time of year is extraordinary, especially during the early mornings and late afternoons when the plains seem to glow in warm golden tones that photographers dream about. Temperatures are generally comfortable, skies are clear and the atmosphere throughout the Serengeti feels vibrant with wildlife activity.
What ultimately makes this journey different, however, is not simply the destinations visited or the camps included, but the feeling that guests are experiencing Tanzania alongside people who genuinely love and understand it. Over the years, we have come to believe that the most meaningful travel experiences are those that feel personal and emotionally connected rather than overly polished or commercialised. We want guests to leave not only with incredible photographs and unforgettable wildlife sightings, but with a deeper appreciation for Africa itself, its landscapes, its people, its conservation challenges and its extraordinary beauty.

Our Founder-Led Tanzania Safari was created for travellers who value authenticity, curiosity, connection and shared experience. Whether you are visiting Africa for the very first time or returning once again to the continent you love, this journey offers an opportunity to slow down, immerse yourself fully in the wilderness and experience Tanzania in a way that feels thoughtful, intimate and deeply memorable.
