His role extends beyond identifying wildlife. Martin provides continuity throughout the itinerary, shares the context behind the places you visit and helps manage the practical details of travelling between destinations. His knowledge of animal behaviour, conservation, South African history and safari operations gives guests access to a deeper and more connected experience.

A good private guide does not dominate the journey. They know when to explain, when to investigate and when to stop talking because an elephant has wandered into view and nobody needs a lecture at that precise moment.

Travelling with Martin means having an experienced Africa-based guide beside you from Cape Town to the Greater Kruger, rather than relying on a succession of disconnected guides and representatives.

Antje joins the journey with a strong focus on photography, storytelling and guest care. She helps guests make better use of photographic opportunities throughout Cape Town and on safari, regardless of whether they are using a professional camera, a compact camera or a phone.

Photographic support can include help with camera settings, composition, working with changing light and anticipating wildlife behaviour. On safari, this is particularly useful because wildlife rarely pauses while you locate a deeply buried camera menu.

Antje’s approach is practical and relaxed. The objective is not to turn every guest into a professional wildlife photographer within eight nights. It is to help you understand your equipment, become more confident and return home with photographs that reflect the journey as you actually experienced it.

More experienced photographers also benefit from travelling with hosts who understand the importance of positioning, background, light and patience at sightings.
