Botswana does not shout for your attention. It draws you in quietly—in the reflection of an elephant crossing a flooded channel, the call of a fish eagle somewhere beyond the reeds, the sudden appearance of a leopard where there was definitely no leopard three seconds ago, and the enormous silence of a landscape still ruled by wildlife.

Botswana, With the People who know the Country Personally
Our Founder-Led Botswana Safari is an intimate 10-night journey through three of the country’s most contrasting wilderness areas. Beginning in Johannesburg, we travel from the Boteti River and Makgadikgadi Pans National Park to the wetlands of the Moremi Game Reserve, before continuing into the predator-rich landscapes of Savute in Chobe National Park.
Personally hosted by Martin and Antje Meyer and limited to only six guests, this is Botswana experienced slowly, thoughtfully and in very good company. This is not simply a collection of lovely lodges joined together by small aircraft. It is a carefully designed journey through changing landscapes, remarkable ecosystems and some of Africa’s most rewarding wildlife areas—with two people beside you who have built their lives around exploring, guiding and sharing this continent.

Testimonials
Botswana was extraordinary, but travelling in such a small group made the greatest difference. We never felt hurried or lost in a crowd, and Martin always made time to explain the behaviour unfolding around us. It felt less like joining a tour and more like exploring Botswana with exceptionally knowledgeable friends.
James & Mark
From the waterways of the Okavango Delta to the elephants and predators of Savute, every part of the journey felt thoughtfully connected. Antje handled the details beautifully and helped us enormously with our photography, while Martin’s knowledge transformed every game drive. Botswana exceeded everything we had imagined.
Leanne & Herb
The six-person group was exactly right: intimate enough to feel personal, but still wonderfully social. Every flight, transfer and camp change felt effortless, leaving us free to enjoy the wildlife and landscapes. Travelling with Martin and Antje gave us complete confidence from beginning to end.

Why Travel to Botswana in March?
March falls within Botswana’s green season, a beautiful and frequently underestimated time to travel.
Summer rainfall transforms the landscape. Vegetation is green, skies become dramatic and the light can be exceptional for photography. Migratory birds remain present, many antelope species have young and predator encounters can be particularly rewarding. There may be afternoon thunderstorms and some safari tracks can become muddy. We consider this part of the experience rather than evidence of a national emergency. Rain usually arrives in dramatic bursts, bringing cooler air, spectacular skies and the wonderful scent of the bush after a storm. Green-season safaris also tend to feel quieter than the traditional dry-season months. For travellers who value atmosphere, photography, birdlife and a more layered view of Botswana, March can be enormously rewarding.
Who Should book a Privately Guided Botswana Safari ?
This Privately Guided Botswana Safari is designed for travellers who want more than a sequence of wildlife sightings. It is ideal for couples, friends and family members who enjoy small groups, thoughtful guiding and meaningful conversation. It will appeal to first-time safari travellers who value the reassurance of experienced hosts, as well as returning visitors who want to experience Botswana with greater context and depth. Photographers are very welcome, but this is not exclusively a photographic safari. Non-photographers will not be abandoned beside a lagoon while the rest of the group debates shutter speeds. Because single accommodation is not available, reservations must be made on a shared-room basis.

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most commonly asked Questions
What is a Privately Guided Botswana Safari?
A Founder-Led Botswana Safari is a small-group journey personally hosted by Martin and Antje Meyer, the founders of Martin Meyer Safaris. They travel with guests throughout the itinerary, sharing their guiding experience, wildlife knowledge, photography expertise and personal insight into African travel.
Rather than joining a conventional tour led by an assigned tour leader, guests travel alongside the people who personally designed and selected the journey.
Who will guide the Founder-Led Botswana Safari?
The safari is personally hosted by Martin and Antje Meyer. Martin is a specialist private guide with decades of experience across Africa. Antje brings extensive experience in African travel, conservation, photography, storytelling and guest care.
Local professional guides will operate the scheduled activities at each lodge, with Martin and Antje accompanying and supporting the group throughout the journey.
How many guests will join the Botswana safari?
The safari is limited to a maximum of six guests. This deliberately small group size creates a more personal atmosphere and allows Martin and Antje to spend meaningful time with every traveller.
Is March a good time to visit Botswana?
March is an excellent time for travellers interested in green landscapes, dramatic skies, birdlife, photography and newborn animals. It falls within Botswana’s green season, when summer rainfall transforms the wilderness and creates a particularly atmospheric safari experience.
Wildlife remains abundant, although its distribution and behaviour differ from the dry winter months. March is especially rewarding for travellers who want to experience a quieter and more colourful side of Botswana.
What wildlife can I see on a Botswana safari?
Possible sightings include elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs, spotted hyenas, brown hyenas, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, crocodiles and numerous antelope species.
Botswana also offers exceptional birding, particularly during the green season when migratory species are present. All wildlife sightings remain natural and cannot be guaranteed.
Is this Botswana safari suitable for first-time visitors to Africa?
Yes. Travelling with Martin and Antje provides an additional layer of support and reassurance, making the safari suitable for first-time visitors. The itinerary includes all specified flights and lodge transfers, while the small group size ensures that guests receive personal attention throughout the journey.
