A SMALL GROUP SAFARI THROUGH NAMIBIA
Namibia deserves more than a race between famous landmarks. This 12-day journey has been designed to show you just how different one country can be.
We begin amongst the towering dunes of the Namib Desert before reaching the Atlantic at Swakopmund. From there we travel through Damaraland in search of desert-adapted wildlife, cross Etosha National Park from west to east and finish on the private Onguma Reserve.
The itinerary spends two nights in each of the major regions, giving us time to explore rather than simply arrive, photograph and leave.
And throughout the journey, Martin and Antje travel with you. This is not a large escorted tour.
It is a small, personally guided safari through one of Africa's most photogenic countries.
Why Choose a Privately Guided Namibia Safari?
A privately guided Namibia safari gives travellers the benefit of continuity throughout a country where the journey between destinations is as important as the destinations themselves.
Instead of simply moving between lodges and starting again with a new guide in each region, Martin and Antje travel with the group throughout the journey. They get to know what interests you, how you like to travel and what you enjoy photographing.
Although this is a Namibia small group safari, the experience remains highly personal. The group travels together in a dedicated 4x4 vehicle rather than joining large scheduled tours or shared lodge transfers.
This allows more flexibility around photography, wildlife sightings and the pace of each day.
Private guiding is not about isolating yourself from other travellers.
It is about having the right people beside you throughout the journey.
What Makes This Namibia Group Safari Different?
Many Namibia tours concentrate on reaching as many famous locations as possible. We would rather understand why we are going somewhere in the first place.
The route, guiding and pace of this journey have been chosen to reveal different sides of Namibia rather than simply joining dots on a map.
01
Personally Guided From Start to Finish
Martin and Antje accompany the group through the journey.
Instead of repeatedly starting again with a new host, they get to know what interests you, what you enjoy photographing and how you like to travel.
That continuity is one of the biggest differences between a privately guided safari and a conventional escorted tour.
02
A Genuinely Small Group
A small group creates a completely different atmosphere.
There is less time spent waiting for a coachload of people, easier conversation with your guides and considerably more freedom to enjoy the places you have travelled so far to see.
It is social without becoming anonymous.
03
More Than a Wildlife Safari
You will certainly look for wildlife.
But Namibia is also about scale, light, geology, desert, coast, silence and an almost ridiculous amount of empty space.
The journey has therefore been designed around the entire country rather than treating Namibia as another Big Five safari.
04
Photographers Are Very Welcome
You do not need to be a professional photographer. You do not even need a frighteningly large lens.
Antje is available throughout the journey to help with camera settings, exposure, composition, changing light and getting more from the equipment you already own.
Martin's wildlife experience adds another important layer by helping you understand behaviour, anticipate movement and recognise when it is worth waiting rather than simply taking a photograph and moving on.

Testimonials
While it was marketed as a photographic safari, my wife who has zero interest in anything photography related, had the most amazing time. There was a perfect balance between culture, wildlife, landscapes and experiences to satisfy my inner Ansel Adams, and to keep the wife happy. It was never a formal workshop, but more "on the job" training how to use my camera in different locations, and with different settings to maximise the light.

Photographic Client and very happy Wife
We went down a rabbit hole looking for the right fit for our first safari, and then we found Martin & Antje. We loved every moment of our safari. From the moment we arrived, until the moment we left, we felt like old friends. The warmth and comfort alongside genuine care was felt throughout the entire trip. I bought a camera two days before we left, and arrived not even knowing how to switch it on. By the end of the trip, not only was I comfortable using my camera, but I got some great shots!

Is July a Good Time for a Namibia Small Group Safari?
July falls within Namibia’s dry season and is an excellent time to combine desert landscapes with wildlife viewing in Etosha.
Days are generally dry and clear, while mornings and evenings can be cool, particularly in the desert and during early game drives.
As the dry season progresses, water becomes increasingly important to wildlife in Etosha, making waterholes particularly productive places to spend time.
The dry air, clear skies and strong contrast between desert colours also make July particularly rewarding for photography.
What Is the Weather Like in Namibia in July?
July is winter in Namibia.
Days are often pleasantly warm and dry, while early mornings and evenings can be surprisingly cold.
Temperatures vary considerably between the Namib Desert, Atlantic coast and northern wildlife regions, so layers are important.
Swakopmund and Walvis Bay can feel much cooler because of the Atlantic and coastal fog.

Where Does This Namibian Photographic Safari Go
This 11-night Namibia small group safari travels from Windhoek into the Namib Desert before continuing to Swakopmund, Damaraland, Etosha National Park and Onguma Private Reserve.
The route combines five very different regions, allowing the group to experience Namibia’s desert landscapes, Atlantic coast, cultural history and wildlife without trying to rush through the country.
Windhoek
The journey begins with one night at The Windhoek Luxury Suites.
This gives guests time to arrive, recover from their international journey and meet Martin, Antje and the rest of the group before setting off together the following morning.
Sesriem & Sossusvlei
The group spends two nights at Dead Valley Lodge in the Namib Desert.
An early morning excursion takes us into the dune field towards Deadvlei and Sossusvlei, with time to explore, photograph the changing light and climb Big Daddy for those who want to.
Later, we visit Sesriem Canyon.
Swakopmund & Sandwich Harbour
Two nights in Swakopmund introduce a completely different side of Namibia.
A full day around Walvis Bay combines marine wildlife with a 4x4 journey into Sandwich Harbour, where enormous dunes meet the Atlantic Ocean.
Damaraland & Twyfelfontein
From Swakopmund we travel north along the Skeleton Coast before turning inland into Damaraland.
Here we search the dry river systems for free-roaming desert-adapted elephants and visit the UNESCO-listed rock engravings at Twyfelfontein.
Wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, which is precisely why experienced guiding matters.
Etosha National Park
The safari then enters Etosha through Galton Gate and travels through the park towards Okaukuejo.
A full day is devoted to exploring the central region, visiting productive waterholes and allowing time for wildlife behaviour to unfold naturally.
Okaukuejo’s floodlit waterhole also gives us the chance to continue watching wildlife after dark.
Onguma Private Reserve
The final two nights are spent at Onguma The Fort on the eastern boundary of Etosha.
Onguma protects approximately 34,000 hectares of private wilderness and supports a wide variety of plains game and predators, including black rhino.
The reserve also offers access to the water-level Onkolo photographic hide.

What Wildlife Can You See in Namibia in July?
Namibia supports a wide variety of wildlife, although the experience changes dramatically between regions.
In Damaraland we specifically search for desert-adapted elephants, while Etosha and Onguma offer opportunities to see elephant, giraffe, zebra, antelope, predators and rhino.
Wildlife is never guaranteed.
The advantage of travelling with experienced guides is being able to respond to current conditions, tracks, water availability and recent animal movements rather than relying on a fixed checklist.
Why Choose a Privately Guided Namibia Safari in July?
July is a popular time to travel in Namibia.
A small privately guided group gives greater control over the pace of the journey and allows Martin and Antje to adapt around changing light, wildlife activity and the interests of the guests.
That flexibility matters in a country where some of the most memorable moments are completely unplanned.
Who Is a Privately Guided Namibia Safari Best For?
A privately guided Namibia safari is best suited to travellers who want the continuity and personal attention of experienced guides while enjoying the companionship of a carefully limited group.
It works particularly well for travellers interested in wildlife, landscapes, photography and natural history.
Is a Privately Guided Namibia Safari Good for First-Time Visitors?
Yes.
Having the same experienced hosts throughout the journey removes much of the uncertainty involved in travelling through a large and unfamiliar country.
Martin and Antje manage the journey while also adding context to the landscapes, wildlife and places visited.
Is a Small Group Namibia Safari Suitable for Couples and Friends?
Yes.
The journey suits couples and friends who enjoy travelling with like-minded people but do not want the impersonal atmosphere of a large escorted tour.
Experience Namibia With the Right Guides Beside You
Travel from the Namib Desert to Etosha with experienced guides, a deliberately small group and the continuity of personal support throughout the journey
No payment is required to enquire. A complimentary short room hold may be arranged.
